WHAT'S THE BEST WAY TO CONTACT YOU AND START THE PROCESS?
Coming to the shop in person is always best! If you’re not able to stop in, you may reach us by email at info@benaroundtattoos.com. Please include reference pictures in your mail. If you need to follow up, you may reach us by phone at 434-923-8282. As our clients receive our undivided attention, we are frequently unable to answer the phone - PLEASE leave a message, we WILL return it as soon as we are able.
HOW DO I GET AN ESTIMATE FOR THE TATTOO I'D LIKE TO GET?
Estimates are only given in person at the shop. We need to see where we will be putting the tattoo and get an idea of what we’d be doing in order to estimate the amount of time it would take to properly execute your tattoo. Estimates are just that, not firm prices, to give you an idea of time and cost involved.
HOW DO YOU DETERMINE THE PRICE OF TATTOOS?
Price is based on time spent. Different artists have different rates based on experience and skill set. Rates range from $150/hr - $200/hr on large projects. For small tattoos taking less than 30 minutes we have a $100 minimum.
DO I NEED AN APPOINTMENT OR CAN I WALK IN?
We will always do walk ins when we have time available. We do primarily work by appointment. Saturdays between 2pm-6pm we dedicate to walk ins for small tattoos, first come, first serve. We do ask for walk in Saturdays that you do not arrive at the shop any earlier than 1:30pm to get on the list.
HOW DO I GET AN APPOINTMENT, I'VE HEARD YOU'RE BOOKED OUT FOR YEARS AND NOT TAKING NEW CLIENTS?
We always welcome new clients. We only book out one month at a time. On the first business day of the month we open the books for the following month. If the first day of the month falls on a Sunday, Monday, or a holiday, booking opens up the following Tuesday when we open. We do require that you do a consultation prior to making an appointment. We cannot book you an appointment if you are unsure of what you want, since we will be unable to determine the appropriate length for your appointment. To make an appointment to start a new piece, we require you to come in person to make the appointment and make a deposit. To book a return session for a tattoo in progress you can call, email, or stop by in person to schedule.
If you are coming in from outside of the area, let us know! We are happy to make accommodation suggestions.
HOW DO I GET A CONSULTATION?
All consultations are done on a walk in basis. Consults are free and usually last 15 minutes or less. Please bring all your ideas and reference images with you to the consultation. If we have a suitable time available we can book your appointment at that time. If we don’t have a time available that fits your schedule, then you would need to return on the next first of the month (see above for booking information and schedules). If you have done a consultation and are unable to return on the first, you may send a representative to make your appointment and deposit on your behalf, provided you let us know at the time of the consultation.

1. We require a $50 deposit for all tattoo appointments ($100 for a full day appointment).

HOW DOES IT WORK IF I WANT TO GET A CUSTOM DESIGN?
We are more than happy to design a one-of-a-kind tattoo for you. Design work is generally done on the day of the appointment. Some of our artists will do design work on the iPad or on paper. Ben draws everything onto the body to ensure a perfect fit. For Ben to do a custom design on paper, he treats it as an art commission and is subject to hourly rate to be determined at the time of consultation. If you are not perfectly happy with the design, we are more than happy to work with you to make the adjustments. However, design time is subject to hourly rate to include adjustments.
DO YOU DO COVER-UPS?
Yes, all of our artists are skilled with cover-ups.
WILL YOU FINISH A TATTOO ANOTHER ARTIST STARTED?
This is considered on a case by case basis, with the final decision left to the person who will be continuing your tattoo. Please come to the studio for a consultation to determine if this is an option for you.
ARE THERE ANY TATTOOS YOU REFUSE TO DO?
Yes, the artist will have the final say in whether or not they are comfortable doing your tattoo. Under NO circumstances will we do anything racist, gang related, or hate based. There can also be concerns with size, detail, and placement that dictate longevity and readability of the tattoo. We want to give you a tattoo that will look great today, tomorrow, and 20 years from now!
ARE YOUR PIGMENTS VEGAN?
Yes, 100%. Shop policy requires all artists to use not only vegan, but cruelty-free, lab created, and pigments free from plastics and acrylic resin. All of our pigments are specifically created for the purpose of tattooing. They are time tested, true, and made in the U.S.A.
WHAT DO I NEED TO THINK ABOUT FOR THE DAY OF MY APPOINTMENT?
1. You MUST have your actual ID with you. Photocopies and picture on your phone will NOT be accepted. Proper IDs include driver’s license, state ID, passport, passport card, or military ID.
2.PLEASE come dressed appropriately in clean clothes. DO NOT wear your favorite shirt or expensive outfit, as there is always a possibility of getting ink on your clothing. We will not be liable or responsible to launder or replace any clothing that becomes stained in the tattoo process. Keep in mind you will need to expose the area of skin you would like to get tattooed (please don’t wear a dress to get your lower back tattooed).
3.Plan accordingly, DO NOT come in to get tattooed on an empty stomach. Not eating prior to getting tattoo can result in fainting, nausea, or just general bad feelings. You are welcome to bring snacks and a non-alcoholic beverage (preferably in a cup with a top, lid, or resealable bottle to prevent spilling).
4.Feel free to bring a pillow, towel, or small blanket for your comfort. Again, bear in mind ink stains can and do happen.
5.You may also want to bring headphones to listen to your music, podcasts,or videos on your personal electronic device. The lights in the tattoo rooms can be a bit intense for some clients, sunglasses aren’t a bad idea if you are light sensitive.
CAN I BRING SOMEONE WITH ME TO MY APPOINTMENT?
We understand that getting tattooed can be an intimidating process for some. You are completely welcome to bring a friend for moral support, our booths have limited space so we ask you limit your guests to one.
WHAT FORM OF PAYMENTS DO YOU ACCEPT?
While cash is always preferred we also accept debit, most credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, Discover), and smart phone/card tap payments. We also take Zelle and PayPal. ***We DO NOT take American Express***
Payment for time spent is due in full at the end of each session.
WHAT ABOUT TIPPING?
While we never expect a tip, they are always appreciated, and totally at the client’s discretion.
HOW DO I TAKE CARE OF MY NEW TATTOO?
AFTERCARE (English)
1. If your tattoo was bandaged, remove the bandage after 1-3 hours, DO NOT put any other bandages on your tattoo while it is healing.
2. Wash immediately with hot water and Cetaphil gentle cleanser (blue top). Be sure to wash away any flecks of blood and ointment left on the tattoo. When finished washing, rinse your tattoo in cold water. Repeat the washing process three times daily until your tattoo is completely healed.
3. When you arrive home make sure to change your bed sheets and put on the older ones. It is completely normal to push out some pigment while you sleep and you may end up with a imprint of your new tattoo on your sheets. Make sure to keep all pets and animals out of your bed while your new tattoo is healing.
4. On the third day of healing, begin to put a SMALL amount of Cetaphil moisturizing lotion (green top) on your tattoo 2-3 times a day. Wipe away any visible lotion from your new tattoo with a clean, dry paper towel. Always use lotion from a pump dispenser and never a tub. DO NOT use Neosporin, Bacitracin, Triple antibiotic, Vaseline, or any other petroleum-based ointment.
5. Your new tattoo will get a thin layer of scabbing or peel like a heavy sunburn - this is totally normal. DO NOT pick, poke, slap or scratch your tattoo during this time. You need to let any scabbing come off on its own. Any scabs that you pick off will create holes in the healed tattoo.
6. For the first two weeks after getting tattooed, you should NOT soak in water of any kind. NO bathtub, hot tub, swimming pool, or sauna. You should also wait at least 30 days before tanning or sun bathing.
7. Remember that your new tattoo, while healing, is an open wound. Keep it clean and treat it as such. If you believe you have an infection, seek medical attention immediately.
CUIDADOS POSTERIORES (Español)
SOINS A APPORTER AUX NOUVEAUX TATOUAGES (Français)
We welcome and honor clients from all walks of life. You will be treated with dignity and respect, regardless of how you look or who you love. We believe respect is given freely to all who pass through our doors, disrespect is earned. We do request to be treated with the same respect.
